love a good street-plant moment!

The writing prompt I’ve been giving myself for these weekly paid posts since starting them is: a written vlog. I love vlogs. The ones that feel like you’re escaping into another person’s world for a bit, where you get to know the layout of their kitchen in a weird, welcomed voyeuristic sort of way.

I’ve always been drawn to worlds. They’re my catnip.

Yes the story or plot, yes the characters, but mostly: what was the weather like and what did their house look like?

All the movies, books, even celebrities (and influencers) I’m drawn to have a very defined sense of what makes their world a good place to be. The escapism is imagining I’m living in someone else’s world for a minute— real or imagined.

I don’t know if I always hit my self-imposed writing pitch right all the time, but it’s a goal post I’m interested in aiming towards in these posts, to share a bit of my world with all of you.

It’s been less than a week since Nashville welcomed us back in her hot, and muggy arms. Everything feels wet. We wake in the morning to condensation clinging in the early light on our windows. Eventually it’s washed away by a summer thunderstorm, before the sun comes out and the whole cycle repeats itself over again. My hair is frizzing like mad.

I’m not mad about the heat, I am a little mad at the rain. So much rain! Too much rain! Apparently we’re experiencing our rainiest year since 1973, and trust me, I’m feeling every inch of that waterfall.

Everything in the garden is green, tropical and sticky. Gone are the crisp, warm mornings of May. We’re in humidity hell now.
