I just listened to this- only just discovered the play button at the top!! Not in your lovely voice but enjoyed listening at breakfast :)
I can definitely relate to the memories with my nana. I always remember a cafe within a shopping centre near a train station we used to go to near London and I remember these glass dispensers on the tables filled with coloured sugar cubes. At these how I remember - like it was something from Willy wonka! In ‘real life’ it was probably just quite ordinary sugar. But yeah nana also had a restaurant we would always go to for lunch :) in central London we went to a Salvation Army run cafe but I always referred to it as the Good Samaritan 😀
I love this and it made me instantly think of the perfect days I’ve had in Portland, OR now and during my 20s. Thanks for writing! (Also, nothing beats a day with grandma - speaking as an oldest granddaughter as well).
Running errands with a grandparent is always a cover for having a fun adventure! When I got a little older (high school and college), my nana and I would sneak out together to “run errands”. We’d pick up food to go-usually from Panera or an Indian food place where she knew the name of every employee-and then park her Tahoe at a park and roll the windows down, and just chat and listen to the birds. I didn’t realize how special it was until she was gone-thank you for reminding me of it. ✨
"Running errands is really code for doing whatever you want" - I feel so seen!
I don’t why I feel like I need to dress it up but I do!
That is the perfect day ♥️

That is SO sweet! Grandmas are magic and the world is magical through their eyes

I savoured every single word of this!
As a fellow Minnesotan/Minneapolitan, I can attest this take is *chefs kiss*.
